Emergency Children's Shelter
The A. Fern Norville Children's Emergency Shelter in Kaufman has become the charity of choice for the DFW Freedom Riders. Since 2004, we have managed to donate tens of thousands of dollars worth of supplies, Christmas Gifts for the kids, and cash to help the shelter.
We try to visit the shelter at least three times per year for Easter, Fall, and Christmas. In addition to the donations, we have been blessed to have the children touch our lives in a way that is never forgotten. The greatest joy is seeing a downtrodden child's face light up when they get a gift or a ride.
For December 2009, the raffle, cash gifts and pledges
amounted to more than $9,000 directly to the shelter.
